NAGE Pushes Hard for Evaluation of Baltimore's Parking Situation

Over the past 6 months, NAGE Local R 3-19 has pushed the Agency to re evaluate the parking situation at the Baltimore Greene Street site.

NAGE is aware that many employees from the University Hospital have been observed parking in the VA parking lot then immediately crossing over the connecting bridge to the University Hospital to go to work.

NAGE requested information from the VA showing who has parking permits for the VA. It became apparent that many of the names on the list were no longer VA employees.  It is clear to NAGE that the Agency's parking records are incomplete and not up to date.

Formerly employed Staff RNs have indicated to NAGE that the parking situation at Baltimore is one of the top reasons for leaving their VA employment.

Through the persistent efforts and on going conversations by NAGE President Cipriaso with the VAMHCS Director and other VA Management officials, the Agency recently announced that they would be taking a hard look at the parking situation to see if they can free up some parking space.

It is the position of NAGE that all clinical staff should have priority consideration for the on site parking. For Nurses or other clinical staff to have to plan to go out and repark their vehicle is highly inefficient.

We hope taking serious evaluation of the current parking situation will prove to be productive
